The Writing Coach Podcast 62: PITA clients
WCP62 PITA clients
PITA clients have nothing to do with breaking pita bread and eating hummus with your editors. Today I’ve got in mind those difficult clients who can be a real pain in the A. We all have a different PITA threshold. I think of those emojis in hospitals, where you’re asked to a face expressing your pain level.

One person hit with a hammer says it’s a 3; somebody else says it’s a 7.
Same with the editor who said they’d get urgent edits to you first thing in the morning, but only send them through in the evening. Ouch.
For some freelancers, that’s a 3; for others it’s a 7. Or a 9.9. 😉
APPLY FOR FREELANCE WRITER BOOTCAMP
Join me in the next session of my small group coaching program, Freelance Writer Bootcamp, where you will learn how to write pitches that sell, break into your dream publications, cover stories that matter while getting paid well, and improve your confidence as a writer.
Bootcamp alumni have used these methods to break into the New York Times, the Guardian, the Washington Post, the BBC, Bustle, Shape, and many others, as well as niche and regional publications too.
Freelance Writer Bootcamp integrates the internal work that holds writers back—like doubt, imposter syndrome, procrastination, indecision, and overwhelm—with the external work of finding your best markets, developing story ideas, writing and sending pitches, and using proven strategies to develop long-term clients.
We start in January, but if you register now you’ll also get the early bird bonus module on mindset and a call with me in November.
