Sending a letter of introduction to editors at news agencies and bureaus letting them know that you’re interested in working as a stringer can start the ball rolling. Touching base with editors to let them know when and where you’ll be physically (e.g. if you take a trip or move) also helps you stay top of mind if they need somebody local.
